Achilles (?) is the main antagonist of Ninja Gaiden 4. An ancient Greater Fiend who had been countlessly resurrecting Dark Dragon's for years through breaking the seals which the dragon left behind, and sacrifices the priestess who contained the dragon's soul in them, with Seori being the last known priestess, but was stopped by Ryu Hayabusa before he could sacrifice Seori and defeated by him, and thought dead.

Secretly surviving his defeat at the hands of Ryu Hayabusa, he disguise himself as human named Misaki (?), a chief strategist of Raven Clan to continue to manipulate Seori, as well as the Dark Dragon's descendant, Yakumo into unknowingly helping him finish resurrecting the Dark Dragon instead of purifying it. He is the first of seven who lead legions of the damned in the underworld. He is cruel, ruthless, and has the power to manipulate gravity.

Appearance[]

In both forms, Achilles has blonde hair with slick backed hair.

Initially, as Misaki, he complete resembles a human with medium short hair, sporting black garbs and glasses and walks with a cane.

After revealing his true Fiend form, his skin is pale white, his hair is spiky and resembles that of a devil, just like his devilish horn. He also have large spiked shoulders on the right side, and his wings only on the left side of his back. Additionally, he wields a large scythe. He also have a large scar on his chest, left by Ryu Hayabusa, when he defeated him years ago.

Personality[]

Initially before he reveal his true form, Achilles put the façade of highly competent and trustworthy individual, despite being a recent addition to the Raven clan.

The kindness he showed while posing as Misaki was also an act, as to him, the Raven Clan was only a stepping stone to the resurrection of the Dark Dragon.

His kind and sensitive personality has given him a personal distaste for killing, but he acknowledges it as an inevitability for those who live the way of the ninja and when required will bloody his hands without question. Although he claims to do so only to repay his debt to the Raven Clan, this devotion is just one of the many reasons he commands such respect amongst his peers.

When he reveal his true color, he is a manipulative individual who is solely loyal to Dark Dragon. Attempting to sacrifice the priestess which contained the Dark Dragon's soul to resurrect the dragon and prevent those from purifying it to ensure chaos.

While he has little but disdain for humans, he recognizes their value as pawns, and shapeshifts to a human form himself to advance plots of deception.

History[]

Several years ago, entered the human world with he intention of resurrecting the Dark Dragon to utilize its power for his own ambitions. he took over a ruler of a certain nation while spreading worship of the Dark Dragon to amass an enormous number of human sacrifices before raiding the Dark Dragon village, killing everyone save for Seori. With the priestess under his control, he performed the ritual atop a Tokyo skycrapper to resurrect the Dark Dragon, opening the gates of the underworld and allowing hordes of fiends to emerge and attack, reducing Tokyo to a bloody hellscape. With the Dark Dragon body manifested, leaving only his soul, he attempts to kill and release the Dark Dragon's soul, However before he can do it, Ryu arrives. In their fight, Ryu defeats Achilles, inflicting a serious wound and sending him falling from the top of the building.

Achilles then disguises himself as Misaki, a middle-aged gentleman who was beaten to the brink of death when fiends overran Tokyo following the attempted resurrection of the Dark Dragon, but ultimately was rescued by the Raven Clan. In gratitude, Misaki joined the clan as advisor and intelligence officer, and utilizes his extensive knowledge to formulate the clan's operations. His tactical cunning has cemented him as a trusted asset despite his as yet short tenure. Although he gained a permanent limp from his injuries, he still attends even the harshest of operations in person, and is a master of combat with a cane.

Plot[]

Misaki gets assigned to Yakumo's unit, who now has a mission of killing the Dark Dragon's priestess, Seori, to fulfill their clan's prophecy. However after meeting her, Yakumo decides to work with her and break the Dark Dragon's seals in order to purify him. Misaki works closely with Seori as Yakumo heads from a shrine to shrine breaking the seals.

As they are about to break the final fourth seal, Seori explains that they must kill her as well in order for the Dark Dragon's body and soul to reunite. Yakumo hesitates, not wanting to do it. In that moment, Misaki pulls the weapon, breaking the seal and stabs Seori with it. Misaki then transforms into a Fiend, causing Seori to realize he is Achilles. He attempts to finish Seori, but Yakumo stands in his way.

Achilles then introduces himself as the Obsidian Overlord, Sovereign of the Damned, the Great Fiend Achilles. The same fiend who resurrected the Dark Dragon years ago. Achilles states that Yakumo's hard work, made things so easy for him, so he will reward him with an excruciating death. Yakumo gets angry at Misaki, who guesses its about Seori, but states that he just saved him the trouble of having to kill her himself as the Dark Dragon resurrection would be impossible without her death. Yakumo manages to defeat Achilles and quickly returns to Seori.

In her final moments, Seori tells Yakumo that he is the only one who can purify the Dark Dragon. She apologizes and tells him that she doesn't really want to die. Taking her final breath, the Dark Dragon soul leaves her body and reunites with his body. The dying Achilles laughs, saying that the Dark Dragon has been reborn.

Achilles's goal was not only to revive the Dark Dragon into its most powerful form, but to feed upon its flesh, thereby gaining its power and allowing him to rise as absolute ruler of the world. In the end, his vile scheme was thwarted by the ninjas Ryu and Yakumo.
