The Alchemist (錬金術師) is an Enemy in Ninja Gaiden 3 and Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge.

Overview

This Soldier comes in its regular variant and his stronger White counterpart.

Appearance

• Day 2

Techniques

• Melee Combo: throws punches repeatedly.
• Throw Attack: grabs Hayabusa with their red-glowing hands.
• Magic Brick Shield: charges up a shield that deflects Hayabusa's arsenal, except Strong Attack variants and Ninpo magic.
• Magic Boulder Drop: drops boulder on Hayabusa from above. Only used with the shield up.
• Ground Slam: teleports above Hayabusa and slams down. Only used with the shield up.
• Magic Projectile: shoots an extremely fast projectile. Only used with the shield up.
• Brick Projectile: shoots a slow homing projectile. Only used with the shield up.
• Kamikaze Throw: once dismembered, dives at Hayabusa to grab him and explodes. (Razor's Edge only)

Strategy

Ninja Gaiden 3

• Combine Wind Run (Quick Attack + Jump) and Wind Path (While jumping near enemy — Jump) with a Flying Swallow (While jumping forward — Strong Attack) to safely break their Magic Brick Shield.
• The safest, yet slowest, approach is to simply move in circles continuously throwing out a double Quick Attack while running: with The Blade of the Archfiend, if the second hit connects, it can be further chained into a Throw Technique (While running — Quick, Quick, Quick, Quick, Quick, Quick, Strong Attack), which won't Instant Kill him, unlike the Izuna Drop, but will leave him bloody nonetheless.
• The risky, but most effective, method to dispatch them is to gather enough distance to unleash a charged Strong Attack, then toss a Shuriken on the grounded enemy and, if it connects, approach the foe to launch him with the shorter variant of the Izuna Drop (Forward Strong Attack, Quick, Quick, Quick, Strong Attack); then finish him off with an Obliteration Technique (When near enemy that is near death — Strong Attack) for a major Ki gain.
• Another quick, although situational, strategy is to dash into either a Terrorist stunned by a Shuriken or a bloody enemy — an Alchemist included — to launch a Steel on Bone (Quick Attack) and turn it into a Combo Kill on a nearby Alchemist with another Quick Attack.

Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge

• Break their Magic Brick Shield with a Strong Attack, then launch a quick Izuna Drop (Forward Strong Attack, Quick, Quick, Quick, Strong Attack) and charge an Ultimate Technique on landing.

Notes

• One of the few enemies to not feature any Powerful Attack outside of his Kamikaze Throw.
