The Amazonian Death Worm (アマゾニアンデスワーム?) is a boss in Ninja Gaiden II, appearing in Chapter 9.
Description[]
A gigantic skull-faced green worm. Due to its subterranean nature, this creature has lost its sight completely, developing elongated appendages such as its mandibles and a tongue that extendes like a melting hand. This tongue by itself also possesses four claws and occasionally pokes from underground like a firefly to search for preys[1]. Its body ends in a biforked tail.
Story[]
Ryu Hayabusa follows Elizébet's trail to an ominous realm in South America. In the Necromantale Pyramid beyond its dark jungle, the High Infernal Priest Dagra Dai awaits for the Demon Statue plundered from Hayabusa Village to rebirth his evil deity, the Archfiend. In the cavern to the great waterfall that hides the Lair of the Archfiend, Ryu is suddenly attacked by a colossal Amazonian Death Worm burrowing through the tunnels at high speed. As the Dragon Ninja vanquishes the Fiend, he can now leave its nest for the ancient ruins beyond.
Techniques[]
- Burrowing Charge: The Giant Death Worm Queen moves around at great speed, disappearing from Ryu's range or quickly ramming him.
- Acid Spit: Like her smaller brethren the Giant Death Worm Queen can spit fast moving balls of acid onto her opponent.
- Throw Attack: The Giant Death Worm Queen's skull face opens up, allowing a smaller mouth to attempt to grab Hayabusa.
Strategy[]
- Charging up a 360 Lunar UT and releasing when approached will allow you to remain mostly unharmed.

Trivia[]
- Despite being called a worm, the biforked tail suggests it would be a type of centipede.
