Black Scale is a Consumable Item in Ninja Gaiden 4.
In-Game Description[]
A jet-black scale said to have been peeled from the limb of an ancient dragon. The scale is comprised of several layers of thick material, making it extremely rigid. Mixing it with a phantasmal herb through an esoteric process will produce an elixir that enhances the vitality of whoever drinks it.
Acquisition[]
There are a total of 10 Black Scales. They are either obtained as rewards for completing missions or found in boxes during the game.
- Black Scale #1: During Chapter 2: Haunted District, you will reach an area with flying security drones and multiple enemies. After clearing the area, you will have to climb up and will see two security drones and a cannon soldier on top of some wide stairs. The left of the stairs has blue containers, which leads to a Purgatory Gate. Proceed up the stairs and some meters later, you will have to jump on a rail to proceed. Instead look left and you will see a box with the Black Scale in a small dead end.
- Black Scale #2: A reward for completing Find the rotting charm in Sky City Tokyo in Chapter 3.
- Black Scale #3: During Chapter 4: Pilgrim's Windswept Path, after breaking some wooden planks, you will be above enemies. This is the second encounter in the stage. After dealing with the enemies, turn right (uphill) and at the end climb up the wall. There you will see a large statue/shrine with a chest containing the Black Scale.
- Black Scale #4: A reward for completing Find the secret supplies in Fuuhaku Sanctum in Chapter 4.
- Black Scale #5: During Chapter 6: Guiding Winds, at the start, after the flying section, you will land on a bridge. Turn around and go towards the Umi and Tyran shops. Next to them there are two chests, the further one has the Black Scale.
- Black Scale #6: A reward for completing Find the antiquated currency in the Drowned District in Drowned District in Chapter 8.
- Black Scale #7: A reward for completing Find the classified document in the Dragon's Maw in Dragon's Maw in Chapter 12.
- Black Scale #8: During Chapter 19: Ebon Wings, after Ryu's fight, you will start climbing up the tower. Eventually you will reach a Tyran and Umi's shops after flying and then swinging. You will then wallrun and before you use the Flying Bird Flip to reach the very top and boss, check on the left side of the Flying Bird Flip. There will be a chest with a Black Scale in it.
- Black Scale #9: A reward for completing Find the flower kunai in Sky City Tokyo in Chapter 2. (New Game+)
- Black Scale #10: A reward for completing Find the flower kunai in the Drowned District in Chapter 8. (New Game+)
