The Bow is a Projectile Weapon in Ninja Gaiden 3 and Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge.

The Story[]

Tracing the transmissions of the terrorist group that attacked London to Saudi Arabia, Ryu Hayabusa and Mizuki McCloud travel to the outskirts of the deserted city of Rub' al Khali, where the flight officer presents the Dragon Ninja with a prototype of a special bow designed by Japan Self-Defence Force engineers that can lock on to a target. (Day 2)

On the Destroyer Yunagi, Mizuki illustrates to Hayabusa the explosive arrowhead upgrade developed by her brother-in-law Cliff Higgins. (Day 3)

In the Hayabusa Ninja Village, Omitsu strengthens Hayabusa's Bow allowing him to shoot multiple arrows by drawing it tighter. (Day 5)

During his battle with the transformed Cliff, Hayabusa's Bow was snatched away by the mad scientist. (Day 8)

Location[]

  • Day 2:
    • Received at the start of the mission.

Upgrades[]

Day 3 Damage increased by explosive arrowheads.
Day 5 Multi lock on through Ultimate Technique.[1]

Techniques[]

  • Aim: hold LB/L2/Lz to automatically lock on to an enemy.
  • Shoot arrow: RB/R2/Rz.
  • Precision aim: while Aiming, move Right Analog Stick.
  • Zoom-in: while Aiming, press Right Analog Stick.
  • Aerial shoot: while Jumping, Shoot arrow.
  • Falcon's Eye: while Jumping, Aim.[2]
  • Ultimate Technique: hold LB/L2/Lz to lock on to multiple targets. From Day 5 only.

Strategy[]

Equipped with unlimited arrows, the Bow's Aim generally locks on to Projectile-oriented opponents like Terrorists (Rocket Launcher) and Spider Ninja Archers.

However, it can also be used to interrupt an opponent’s attack from a distance, similar to the Shuriken, and, albeit arrows from the Bow shoot slightly slower, they are considerably more powerful, especially after the Day 3 explosive upgrade: when facing Megaselions/Demon Baphomets or shiedless Alchemists, you can keep them at bay by simply Sliding away while firing arrows.

It is also possible to use a Melee Weapon combo that transitions into the air, then shoot an arrow instead of continuing the string and note that landing from an arrow shot will put Hayabusa in a RUNNING state, unlike with Shuriken.

Zooming-in also stops the flow of time allowing you the time to aim at an enemy's weakspot, like the Heavy Soldier (Jetpack)'s jets or the Helicopter's rocket launchers, and can eve be combined with Falcon's Eye.

To increase the Bow's firing rate while Aiming, Slide after every arrow shot.
