Chapter 18: Darkness Reborn is the eighteenth chapter of Ninja Gaiden 4. The chapter takes place in Sky City Tokyo's Dragon's Maw.
Synopsis[]
Back in the present time, Ryu learns of Seori's death and witnesses the reemergence of the wretched Dark Dragon. Determined to fulfill Seori's final request, Ryu advances through the Dragon's Maw and prepares to set the stage for the final battle with his old nemesis.
Story[]
In the present, Ryu sees that the Dark Dragon has been reborn. As he climbs a skycrapper, he sees Yakumo holding Seori's body. He stops for a moment, but doesn't say anything and continues towards the Dark Dragon.
Ryu makes his way through fiends. He encounter a Totyos, but defeats it. He continues, but soon after that stops and recalls a conversation with Seori. In that flashback, Seori is happy to see Ryu and asks him for help. She gives him the Jewel of the Dark Dragon and tells him that if he deem Yakumo worthy, to then give him the jewel. Seori states she had made her choice and that she needs to take responsibility for what she have done. She believes that if they manage to stop the Dark Dragon and save Yakumo from the curse of his bloodline, then her death will be worthed. Seori tells her goodbyes with Ryu, telling him that he helped her more than he realize and its time for her to return the favor.

Ryu is learning new Combat Skills by reading scrolls hidden in chests.
- Purgatory Gate: After the elevator, you will fight two Van Gelfs, then reach a room with another Van Gelf. To proceed you need to head upstairs, instead, left of the stairs there will be some barricades that can be destroyed. Destroy them and follow the path, which will almost right away lead to a room with a Purgatory Gate.
- Skill: Reflect (Gleam Form): After the elevator, you will fight two Van Gelfs, then reach a room with another Van Gelf. Head up stairs and at the top, you will have to wall run, but before you do that, look on the left edge on where you are standing. There will be a chest with Reflect (Gleam Form) skill.
- Accessory: Focus God's Orb: After wallruning on the three walls and using the Flying Bird Flip, you will then enter a room with a bridge where many Flare Shadows will spawn. As you enter the room, turn left and you will see a chest in the corner that contains the accessory.
- Lives of the Thousand Gods: In the same room as the accessory, just in the opposite corner.
