Chapter 4: Pilgrim's Windswept Path is the fourth chapter of Ninja Gaiden 4. The chapter takes place in Fuuhaku Sanctum.
Synopsis[]
With the first seal destroyed, Yakumo's next destination is Fuuhaku Sanctum, an ancient shrine dedicated to tengu worship. Yakumo moves against the furious winds to reach the hallowed mountainous grounds where tengu, daemons, and evil spirits roam.
Story[]
Yakumo heads to Fuuhaku Sanctum, where the next Dark Dragon seal is located deep within in its main structure. Seori explains that since they are on a sacred grounds, Yakumo should expect to face many daemons. However, to Yakumo's surprise he sees D.D.O. there, who have figured where he is going next and are after him.
Having obtained Yatousen, the weapon from the first Dark Dragon shrine, Yakumo realizes he can use Bloodbind Ninjutsu with it. Seori wonders what is that and Misaki explains that he can infuse blood into enchanted weapons and transform them.
Yakumo seems some clouds in the distance and Seori guesses it must be the shrine warden. However as there is a large cliff and strong wind ahead, Yakumo wonders on how to cross it. Seori then gives him the Raven Gear: Dragonfly Glider, allowing him to glide on the wind.
With his new tool, Yakumo proceed forward. He reaches a large tengu statue and Seori prepares to perform the sacred ritual and open the path, however, Yakumo rushes in and destroys the statue. Seori and Misaki are shocked and hope that this doesn't anger the local spirits. Yakumo proceeds to cross a bridge, but a sudden strong gust of wind breaks the bridge, causing Yakumo to fall.
Collectables[]
- Black Scale: After breaking some wooden planks, you will be above enemies. This is the second encounter in the stage. After dealing with the enemies, turn right (uphill) and at the end climb up the wall. There you will see a large statue/shrine with a chest containing the Black Scale.
- Gourdy: After using the Dragonfly Glider, you will go through a short cave where you need to slide under a gap. Once outside, you will see a torii gate and more winds that you need to use the Dragonfly Glider. However, before that, turn right and there will be a small path. This is the first Gourdy that will run away when not approached from behind. Jump on the left and use R1 on the pillar to get behind it.
- Purgatory Gate: After you drop into a crashsite after using the Dragonfly Glider, you will swing from a tree branch and then climb up. Two Tengu enemies will then show up, and to proceed you need to use Flying Bird Flip. However, instead of doing that, turn around and follow the path until the end, where you will find a Purgatory Gate.

- Execute the tengu leaders: You will reach an Umi's shop that will give you the Dragonfly Glider and you need to use it to cross the gap. Instead, turn right and keep going that path. After using a fallen tree as a bridge and opening a door, you will find three Great Tengu.
- Find the secret supplies in Fuuhaku Sanctum: After using the Dragonfly Glider for a second time, it will drop you in a crash site area with several enemies. After you defeat them, search the green glowing chest to obtain the Secret Supplies.
