Chapter 5: Raging Valley is the fifth chapter of Ninja Gaiden 4. The chapter takes place in Fuuhaku Sanctum.
Synopsis[]
Powerful winds blow Yakumo into the depths of a ravine, landing him in a den of bloodthirsty daemons. As Yakumo fights his way back up the mountain towards Fuuhaku Sanctum, the brewing windstorm continues to age ever still.
Story[]
Yakumo falls deeper into the ravine and starts looking for a way back up. He manages to establish again contact with Umi, who informs him that she will also look for a path for him, while Misaki and Seori continue towards the shrine. Eventually Yakumo finds another tengu statue and breaks it, causing Misaki and Seori to question it again as that will only anger the spirits.
Yakumo reaches a temple-like village. Umi wonders what is that place and Seori explains that this sanctum was used to worship the tengu spirits. Misaki isn't surprised Seori knows as she is a priestess. Umi then wonders what is her job as a Dark Dragon priestess. Seori explains that the priestesses are a chosen protectors of the Dark Dragon, before his corruption. Since it got sealed away, the priestesses serve as a vessel to house the Dark Dragon soul, which also gives them the power to seal the dragon if he ever be set free.
Yakumo reaches a temple, where he encounters a strange daemon Sanzeon. Umi is worried, however Yakumo assures her that he will handle it. After Yakumo defeats the daemon, he finds another tengu statue and breaks it. He proceeds to cross a bridge, but a strong gust of wind blows him away.

- Gourdy: As you progress, you will reach a cave with green flames in front of it and Yakumo will comment that its quiet. Continuing in the cave, you will need to to grapple to a pillar, then wall, then edge and be in another cave. In this area, you have to climb the left wall which is a lighter color due to some plants. As you climb up, turn left and proceed until the dead end to find a Gourdy.
- Purgatory Gate: After the flying section, you will reach Umi and Tyran's shop. After that you will drop down and climb up. In this are to proceed you will have to go up some stone stairs and pass under a torii gate. You will be standing on a broken wooden bridge and will need to grapple to the other side. Instead, jump down and head right. After a bit, the Purgatory Gate will be on the left, up some stone stairs.
- Accessory: Ashen Pipe: After you reach a temple-like village, on the other end of it, you will climb up some stairs and be standing in front of a slightly lit up temple with a rope hanging in the middle. You need to hit the rope four times. The first three times will spawn 2 Burabura, second time: 2 Oni, and third time: 2 Great Tengu. The four hit will make a chest fall. Open it to obtain the accessory.
- Gourdy: Same place as Ashen Pipe. After you reach a temple-like village, on the other end of it, you will climb up some stairs and be standing in front of a slightly lit up temple with a rope hanging in the middle and a chest next to it. To proceed, you need to go left. Instead, turn right and look up and you will see a wooden wall you can grapple. Climb up and grapple to it, to get on the temple's rooftop. On the right side of the rooftop, you can see a walking Gourdy.
- Accessory: Crimson Ring: After the temple-like village, you will go through a series of flying sections. You will encounter a new enemy, Tsukumo. After you encounter the 4th one, you will swing from a branch to a wind to fly. You will then land next to a chest with a wooden bridge ahead. To proceed, you need to go on the other side of the bridge and catch the wind again. Instead before crossing the bridge, look on its right side and you will see two pillars. Grapple to them and follow the path, and it will lead to a chest with the accessory.

- Execute the troublemaker: As you progress, you will reach a cave with green flames. Continuing inside, you will grapple to a pillar, wall and the edge. After that you will climb up the left wall. Here the left path leads to a dead end with a gourdy. Continue right after sliding under, you will see will see sort of a spiral down path with torii gate and green flames. You will be on a wooden bridge and see a chest right ahead after the bridge and torii gate. From that chest, turn right and you will see a door. Open it and proceed following the path. This will lead to a second encounter with Oniwaka.
- Execute the rampaging daemons: At one point, Yakumo will reach a temple-like village and Umi will wonder what is it. From here, turn right and climb up the building. Go to its left back edge of the rooftop, and climb up again. You will see another building you can climb up, instead turn around and follow the path. After using the Flying Bird Flip, you will find a group of Burabura and Enenra daemons.
- Retrieve the heirloom knife in Fuuhaku Sanctum: After the temple-like village, you will go through a series of flying sections. You will meet a new enemy, Tsukumo. As you encounter the fifth, it will be shooting at you from the other side, while you fight some Tengu. To proceed you also need to fly to the other side, but once there, turn left and head for the Tsukumo. The heirloom knife is behind him on the right.
- Find the tengu offering in Fuuhaku Sanctum: After crossing a long wooden bridge, you will face Sanzeon in the temple hall. After you defeat it, open the gate and look on its left side, to find the offering.
