Chapter 9: Realm of Silent Dead is the ninth chapter of Ninja Gaiden 4. The chapter takes place in Sky City Tokyo's Drowned District.
Synopsis[]
In his pursuit of the fiend, Yakumo finds himself in the depths of the underworld, a hellish landscape inhabited by otherworldly abominations. He crosses a noxious bog and fends off hordes of hostile creatures in hopes of saving Seori. Alone in this unfamiliar realm, even the stoic Yakumo begins to grow restless.
Story[]
As Yakumo enters the interdimensional portal, he finds himself in the underworld. He tries to establish communication with Umi or Misaki, but there is no contact. After looking for the shark for a while, Yakumo finally finds it, but it again slips into a portal.
Yakumo forces his way again in, and this time he returns to the Drowned District. Umi contacts him right away, glad to hear that he is alive. As they discuss the portal, Misaki mentions that they are likely gates to the underworld, the place where the fiends live.
Yakumo tracks down the shark, however as it uses a portal again, he enters it as well and returns to the underworld. Continuing on, he eventually encounters a Veilotl, but manages to defeat it. After that, he finds a new portal and returns to the Drowned District.

- Purgatory Gate: You will open a gate and then you will reach some water, where you need to use Pond Strider. Use it and follow the left wall. It will lead to a dead end with a Purgatory Gate.
- Phantasmal Herb: You will open a gate and then you will reach some water, where you need to use Pond Strider. Use it and head forward, you will reach a small island. Proceed past it and you will have to slide under a barrier. After the slide, hug the left wall and follow it, it will lead to an area with chests. The Phantasmal Herb is in one of those chests.
- Gourdy: You will open a gate and then you will reach some water, where you need to use Pond Strider. At the end of this section, you will jump over a ramp and land in front of a cave. Turn right and you will see a way. Use the Pond Strider and head that way, it will lead to a small area with a Gourdy.
- Gourdy: After you return to the Underworld, you will reach a Flying Bird Flip section. Once on top, turn right and after the fence you will see a path which leads to a Gourdy, after a few jumps.
- Accessory: Cultivation Omamori: After you are back to the Underworld, and after you are done using the Pond Strider, you will reach a wind section. After you catch the two winds from the fans/turbines, you will start falling, quickly go to the far left and aim landing on that platform. On this platform, there is a chest that contains the accessory and its not reachable if you land on the other platforms.

- Execute the miscreant: When you are back in Drowned District, you will go through a disco area and then reach your first Umi and Tyran shops. Facing the shops, turn right and follow the path. It will lead to a room where you will face Oniwaka again.
- Find 3 beautiful minerals in the Drowned District: After you are back to the Underworld, you will reach a Flying Bird Flip section. After it, you will use the Pond Strider and cross a large gap with a wall run and two swings, and will be back on the Pond Strider. Stick to the left wall, and you will see land ahead with some red lights on the edge.
- Beautiful Mineral #1: Jump down and head right. The first Beautiful Mineral will be on this path.
- Beautiful Mineral #2: Back at the land with the red lights on the edge, look forward and you will see new land with a gate that spawns enemies. Use the Pond Strider, jump the water gap and deal with the gate. Now follow the path behind the gate and you will reach a dead end with two chests and the second Beautiful Mineral.
- Beautiful Mineral #3: Now continue forward, and after a Pond Strider section, you will fight some enemies spawning from a gate. After the gate, you will need to use R1 to grapple a few times. Once on top, you will see the third Beautiful Mineral on your left (right before the Wind section).
- Execute the enormous fiends: This is on the same path as the Beautiful Mineral. Continue after the first Beautiful Mineral and the path will lead to a dead end with some Melherc fiends.
