Cliff
Name Cliff
Debut Ninja Gaiden

The Cliff is the location of Act 5-2 in Ninja Gaiden. Ryu Hayabusa comes here after breaking out of the Prison of the Dead, and must scale these cliffs that hold the Temple of Darkness up.

At the end of the Cliff, is the location of Act 5-3, East Tower Out Wall -The Nails of Lukifell-.

Ninja Gaiden[]

The Cliff has four rooms to it, with there being an emphasis of platforming with enemies and bottomless pits all around. The last room has the most difficult jump in the game: Ryu must position himself at the bottom of a wall (made a bit trickier because he has to jump on and off to change his position) in order to jump under a big wall and onto a lower platform underneath it.

Enemies[]

Valuable Pickups (rooms are split off by spaces):[]

  • Jump & Slash Technique - This candle hangs midair while jumping from a high platform to a lower platform (which has a Greaper waiting for Ryu to approach).
  • Art of Flying Firewheel - Located below the main platforms, and guarded by a Sword Armor. It may fall offscreen if not caught right away.
  • Shuriken - Last candle before jumping onto the ladder to go into the next room.
  • Windmill Shuriken - Protected by two Kelberos Cannons (the lower row of them). After defeating Ryu must be careful not to smack his head on the enemies above.
  • Invincible Fire Wheel - Instead of going left to the upper row of Kelberos Cannons, jump right to whack a candle in the air. This will allow Ryu to plow through the enemies heading into the next room.
  • Health Potion - First candle in this room. It's high up but once Ryu scales the platforms he can easily reach it.

Trivia[]

  • In the PC Engine port, you can actually see windows with iron bars, matching up with the Prison of the Dead being inside these cliffs.
  • The music in the stage, titled "Pushing Onward", is reused from Act 1-1 and also gets used for Act 6-3.
