'''The Dark Dragon Blade Incident''' (黒龍丸の事故Kokuryuumaru no Jiko; the Trouble of the Dark Dragon Blade) is the catastrophe that befell the [[Hayabusa Ninja Clan]] in ''[[Ninja Gaiden (Xbox)|Ninja Gaiden]]'' and its remakes.

==History==
Long ago, the [[Dark Dragon]] threw the world into an abyss of chaos. Upon its eventual defeat at the hands of the Dragon Lineage, an enchanted sword, the Dark Dragon Blade was created from its bones. Filled with tremendous malevolent powers, the Blade was sealed by the Hayabusa Ninja Clan, guarded at all times.

==Events==
However, evil entities known as the Fiends, murdered many Ninja from the clan and stole the evil blade. The world was threatened once again with an abyss of darkness. [[Ryu Hayabusa]], the Dragon Ninja took up the [[Dragon Sword]] and faced this hellish legion alone. After the battle with the minions of [[Vigoor]], Ryu shattered the evil blade with one stroke of the True Dragon Sword. ==Results==
After the destruction of the [[Vigoor Emperor]] and the Vigoorian Military, the [[Holy Vigoor Empire]] as it was, was destroyed. Due to the death of [[Murai]] at the hands of his nephew, Ryu Hayabusa, the [[Shadow Ninja Clan]] was disbanded and its [[Shadow Clan Ninja Fortress|base]] abandoned. [[Alma]] found peace, reconciling with her sister, [[Rachel]] in death. Ryu returned to his village to rebuild.

== Story (Spoilers for Ninja Gaiden) ==
At the [[Shadow Clan Ninja Fortress]], the Dragon Ninja Ryu Hayabusa is training after being invited by his uncle [[Murai]], leader of the rogue ninja clan and former member of the [[Hayabusa Ninja Clan]], though he was kicked out for unknown reasons. After a sparring match the two discuss the [[Dark Dragon Blade]] which is kept safe in the village and the [[Dragon Sword]] which is in Ryu's possession. 

Suddenly the two are interrupted by [[Ayane]], who informs them that the Hayabusa village is under attack. Ryu rushes to it to protect his bretherin, finding men in samurai armour destroying everything. There Ryu finds Ayane who, weakly, tells him that [[Doku|a man clad in black armour]] went after the Dark Dragon Blade. Ryu heads there but before that he faces off against the flaming rider [[Masakado]] whom he kills before finally getting to the shrine. There he finds his childhood friend [[Kureha]] being killed by the man Ayane spoke of who also defeats Ryu in combat before escaping with the blade.

Sometimes later Ryu is preparing to leave, putting on the [[Legendary Black Falcon]] outfit. Murai informs him the man who attacked the village was the greater fiend Doku who is associated with the [[Vigoor Empire]]. Ryu heads there via [[airship]] that is going to the capital, [[Tairon]], but is ambushed by the Vigoorian special forces led by [[Dynamo|General Dynamo]] and [[Gamov|Agent Gamov]]. Ryu slaughters the SAT and wounds Dynamo, who explodes and sends the airship crashing down. 

In Tairon Ryu fights through more MSAT soldiers before getting to [[Han's Bar]], the heart of Tairon's underground and somewhere he's sure to find information on Doku as told by Ayane. But before he can enter he has to find a ticket as told by the bouncer (in Sigma instead of finding the ticket the player fights with [[SAT Motorcyclists]]). While here Ryu also meets [[Muramasa]], a legendary blacksmith and merchant. 

Once inside Ryu watches as people flee in terror and [[Galla|a giant red beast]] inside. But the beast is quickly killed by a woman who introduces herself as [[Rachel]], the fiend hunter. Ryu asks her about Doku and she tells him he's dangerous and has turned her sister into a fiend as both of them are half fiends. Before he can get any more answers Rachel disappears, leaving Ryu on the rooftop of the bar. 

Ryu also meets Gamov who tells him Rachel can do just fine and that he'll need luck with Doku before also disappearing. After some more traversing through the city and fighting with the dangerous [[Black Spider Ninja Clan|Black Spider Ninja's]] who have mysteriously also appeared in the city Ryu gets to the [[Dworku Monastery]]. There he goes face to face with a fiend for the first time. After killing them he notices Rachel is there, but she gets attacked by [[Hydracubus]], who Ryu kills as well. 

After the battle Ryu, Rachel and Ayane regroup and he gets the key to the monastery, heading inside. Meanwhile a [[Murai|mysterious masked man]] and Gamov overlook the battle, discussing their plans and the possibility of the Dark Dragon Blade growing stronger with each life taken by it. 

Elsewhere Ryu infiltrates the monastery with intentions of getting to the land of Zarkhan. He also reads a letter sent by Murai which tells him to kill as many people as possible to locate the Dark Dragon Blade no matter who they are as: ''"You go there for revenge, do you not?"''

Inside the monastery Ryu uses the sacred Book of Eons to gain access to the underground. In there resides the [[Bone Dragon|skeleton of a giant dragon]] which is awakened by the placement of a [[Holy Grail]]. The dragon is, however, defeated and it's corpse opens the path deeper underground. On the surface Rachel continues fighting with fiends and soldiers, relentlessly searching for her sister. At the [[Great Bridge Square]] she comes face to face with Gamov. The agent might be skilled but he is no match for the half-fiend so he flees. Similarly Rachel sees [[Alma]] flying towards the monastery and she leaves too. 

In the underground burials Ryu advances, fighting through [[Ghul|reanimated corpses]] and giant wasps. He finally gets to the surface and comes face to face with Alma who he defeats. The damages, however, are severe and the Monastery is left in ruins. Rachel arrives and Alma escapes. Right then a siren blasts throught the city which marks the Vigoorian military's arrival. 

The two discuss greater fiends and how they have a soul unlike regular ones before Ryu tells Rachel she isn't safe with him around. He leaves her alone when suddenly Doku appears. He expressed his anger for how Rachel hurt Alma. She tries to fight but is no match and is abducted. 

Ryu on the other hand makes his way to the military's supply base and radio tower. Before that though he defeats the cybernetically enhanced Alternator, tanks and helicopters before destroying the tower and stealing a train. But the ninja doesn't know how to drive one so he crashes it and enters the sewers of Tairon.  

In there he battles the great fiend of wind [[Paz Zuu]] and using the ceremonial [[Brand of Valor]] opens the underground door to the walls guarding Zarkhan… Nerby the masked man from earlier is silently watching, observing Ryu's every move…
