The Death Worm Larva (アマゾニアンデスワーム(幼体) Amazoniandesuwāmu (yōtai)?, lit. "Amazonian Death Worm (Larva)") is an enemy in Ninja Gaiden II, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Plus, and Ninja Gaiden II: Black.
Description[]
A gigantic skull-faced green worm. Due to its subterranean nature, this creature has lost its sight completely, developing elongated appendages such as its mandibles and a tongue that extendes like a melting hand. This tongue by itself also possesses four claws and occasionally pokes from underground like a firefly to search for preys[1]. Its body ends in a biforked tail.
Techniques[]
- Throw Attack: impales Hayabusa with its tongue. Must be escaped.
- Spin Attack: twists its body around, striking with its head. Guard Breaks.
- Burrow Attack: retrieves underground and then comes back up below Hayabusa. Guard Breaks.
- Projectile Attack: spits an acid ball. May chain into itself up to three times. Guard Breaks and Crushes.
Strategy[]
Death Worm Larvae always come in either large packs or accompanied by other dangerous enemies. They boast high Health and are not easily stunned by even the strongest of Hayabusa's attacks. As such, the recommended method to confront them is to combo the Eclipse Scythe's Immense Raven (While jumping — Quick, Quick Attack) with an in-air Incendiary Shuriken toss into Blood Rain (While jumping — Strong Attack). Then, if the foe is left stunned at end, there's may be a chance to land a full Cries of Ares (Strong, Strong, Strong Attack) depending on the behaviour of nearby enemy. Since these Larvae drop 3000 Yellow Essence each when killed with a Lv2 Ultimate Technique, it's ideal to reposition until one can finish them off with an Empire Destroyer (Hold Strong Attack, Release with Full Essence).
