The Nails of Lukifell is the location of Act 5-3 in Ninja Gaiden. Ryu Hayabusa comes here after up the cliffs of the Temple of Darkness, being his final area to scale before he can reach solid ground above.

At the end of the Cliff, is the location of Act 5-4, Place of Red Execution.

Ninja Gaiden[]

This is the longest stage in the game, with many enemies from all across the game. Ryu starts at the very bottom and has to climb each of the rooms, which have altering progressions of going left and going right. The rooms also get shorter in length as Ryu reaches the top, but each room packs its own set of dangerous enemies.

Enemies[]

Valuable Pickups (rooms are split off by spaces):[]

  • Art of Flying Firewheel NES1FireWheel - Above the small platform just to the right of the ladder to escape. It will be helpful against the Jetpack Ninjas.
  • Nothing here, besides point bags.
  • Shuriken NES1Shuriken - First candle accessible, it will be helpful against a Gunner camping on the other side of a pit.
  • Invincible Fire Wheel NES1FireRing - Above the small platform just to the right of the ladder to escape.
  • 1-UP NES1ExtraLife - Isolated on the far right of the upper path, which leads to a dead end. Runners are common here, so picking up the Invincible Fire Wheel will help ease tension in collecting this goodie.
  • Nothing here, just a straight-forward walk to the Place of Red Execution with no enemies.

Trivia[]

  • The Nails of Lukifell can actually be seen from the outside of the Temple of Darkness, and its slanted structure is kept intact for the background of the stage, hence why each room gets shorter and shorter before reaching the top.
    • The Nails of Lukifell is even the first part of the Temple of Darkness that collapses at the end, breaking off from the rest of the cliff.
  • The music in this stage, titled "Seeking Truth", is reused from an Act 3 cutscene where Ryu chats with Dr. Smith.
  • In the PC Engine, this stage resembles more of a construction area with support beams, moving chains, and a whole animated sediment of rocks being processed from above. Some of these rocks even have demonic faces on them.
  • This is the third and final level where a 1-UP can be obtained (there are three 1-UPs across the game, and this holds the very last one). Once Act 6 is reached, no more 1-UPs can be obtained.
