The Nuclear Armadillo is a boss in Ninja Gaiden II, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, and Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Plus.
Plot[]
Ninja Gaiden II/Sigma 2[]
In Ninja Gaiden II for the Xbox 360, the Nuclear Armadillo is the final boss of the "The Flying Fortress Daedalus" chapter. Early in the "Quickening Devastation" chapter Ryu crosses a lava-waterfall where two of them are waiting but shoot fiery projectiles and later fights those two simultaneously. In Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 for the Playstation 3, Marbus is fought instead of two Nuclear Armadillos in the "Quickening Devastation" chapter.
Appearance[]
The Nuclear Armadillo is, as the name suggests, taking an appearance of an armadillo. However it's charcoal black with lava flowing through the cracks on it's back, as well as on it's forehead and eyes. The Nuclear Armadillo's tail is also made out of lava with some rock sticking in random directions. The creature itself is very large, towering over humans and most fiends.
Strategy[]
- Once they reach half-health, they will ignite themselves and constantly spur fire blasts that will target Ryu.
- Throw several (preferably charged) incendiary shurikens at their heads, if playing Ninja Gaiden II for the Xbox 360 version.
- A fully upgraded Kusari-Gama can deal significant amount of damage through the move Absence of Light (strong attack while running). The move covers a lot of range, which is useful as the armadillos are constantly moving, and also has a very high damage multiplier.
- Hold block when it dies, as when it expires it creates a large explosion that can kill the player if not blocked or otherwise mitigated. The explosion can be dodged through Reverse Wind, but the window of opportunity is relatively short.
