The Gigantosaurus (ギガントサウルス) is a Boss in Ninja Gaiden 3 and Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge.

Overview

A dinosaur revived and enhanced via genetic manipulation that attacks Ryu.

Appearance

• Day 3:
  • At the end of the LOA facility, past the Ghost Soldiers.

Techniques

• Charge Attack: charges at Hayabusa from two to four times. Then falls to the ground, generating a shockwave.
• Stomp Attack: lifts up her leg and stomps, generating a shockwave. If Hayabusa is caught under her leg, it becomes Throw that must be escaped.
• Tail Whip: used if Hayabusa is behind her when she begins to rise from her Charge Attack. Guard Crushes.
• Long-Range Throw: dives forward biting up to four times.
• Short-Range Throw: bites forward. Used if Hayabusa is in front of her when she begins to rise from her Charge Attack.

Strategy

Move to the opposite side of the arena and wait for the Gigantosaurus to launch her Charge Attack. Then Slide (Left Analog Stick + Block) sideways to avoid it and repeat until she falls; in Razor's Edge the shockwave the fall generates is massive compared to the original game, so jump as you see her hit her head on the ground: close in on her leg and attack with any three or four-hit combo string, then run in the direction of the tail to avoid the Tail Whip counter attack as she begins to rise.

Repeated the process enough times, her legs will turn chrome, indicating that the only vulnerable part of the body left is the head. Inflicted sufficient damage to it, a chase scene occurs: run toward the camera and jump over any bone fragment on the ground, then Slide under the missile and, as it gets caught in the Gigantosaurus' jaws, aim (Left Trigger) with your Bow and shoot (Right Trigger).

Past the double doors, the Boss will appear again: slide sideways to avoid his Throw Attack and use a Strong Attack to counter, then when repelled the battle will play out as before. When she's at 20% Health, launch a Strong Attack and follow the on-screen prompt to press Strong Attack rapidly multiple times to take down the Gigantosaurus.

Notes

• Defeating this Boss unlocks the "Antediluvian Slumber" Achievement/Trophy.
• In the Chapter Challenge mode of Razor's Edge, the battle ends before the chase scene.
• Designers added the metallic mind control device attached to the head to give her red compound eyes that makes the Boss look more ferocious.
