Gourdies are mysterious creatures in Ninja Gaiden 4. They are adorable creatures found throughout the world that you can attempt to capture when one is within range. There are generally two types: one that you can approach and capture by completing a short QTE moment, and the other that you need to approach silently from behind in order to not scare them and they flee.
Gourdies[]
There are a total of 15 Gourdies.
- Gourdy #1: Chapter 1: Bloodsoaked Tokyo: You will learn how to use Caddis Wire. After using it for the first time, you will have to use it few seconds later. Use it and then turn left, and you will see your first Gourdy at the dead end.
- Gourdy #2: Chapter 2: Haunted District: After a broken bridge and a large door that opens after defeating all enemies. You will be in a room with Umi and Tyran's shops. After that you will use the Flying Bird technique to climb up. On top you will open the door and will be on a broken bridge with yellow lines. After that hop on the rail and it will lead you to a room with Umi and Tyran's shops. In that room, up in the right corner is a Gourdy.
- Gourdy #3: Chapter 3: Phantom Pleasure Quarter: After the Kitsune Courtesan closes a second door for Yakumo, it will force you go right. Proceed on and you will go up an yellow ladder. A bit further you will find Tyran and Umi's shops in a corner. From this area, to proceed you need to wall run an yellow wall. However, instead jump down and proceed going only forward. You will reach a small room with a lot of junk, and a Gourdy in the right corner.
- Gourdy #4: Chapter 4: Pilgrim's Windswept Path: After using the Dragonfly Glider, you will go through a short cave where you need to slide under a gap. Once outside, you will see a torii gate and more winds that you need to use the Dragonfly Glider. However, before that, turn right and there will be a small path. This is the first Gourdy that will run away when not approached from behind. Jump on the left and use R1 on the pillar to get behind it.
- Gourdy #5: Chapter 5: Raging Valley: As you progress, you will reach a cave with green flames in front of it and Yakumo will comment that its quiet. Continuing in the cave, you will need to to grapple to a pillar, then wall, then edge and be in another cave. In this area, you have to climb the left wall which is a lighter color due to some plants. As you climb up, turn left and proceed until the dead end to find a Gourdy.
- Gourdy #6: Chapter 5: Raging Valley: After you reach a temple-like village, on the other end of it, you will climb up some stairs and be standing in front of a slightly lit up temple with a rope hanging in the middle and a chest next to it. To proceed, you need to go left. Instead, turn right and look up and you will see a wooden wall you can grapple. Climb up and grapple to it, to get on the temple's rooftop. On the right side of the rooftop, you can see a walking Gourdy.
- Gourdy #7: Chapter 6: Guiding Winds: As you progress, you will meet your first Tsukumo Fish. Right after it, you will meet a second Tsukumo Fish that is standing in front of a Flying Bird Flip section. Once up, you will see several chests and another use of Flying Bird Flip. Climb up again and turn around. While standing on the edge, look right and you will see a small platform with a Gourdy on it.
- Gourdy #8: Chapter 7: Altar of the Mountain God: Soon after the start, you will reach an Umi and Tyran shops with a stairway leading up for the boss fight. Instead take the right path going down and follow it, it will lead to a dead end with the Purgatory Gate. Right behind the gate, you can find a Gourdy.
- Gourdy #9: Chapter 8: Drowned District: Right at the very start, turn back and you will see it in the distance.
- Gourdy #10: Chapter 9: Realm of Silent Dead: You will open a gate and then you will reach some water, where you need to use Pond Strider. At the end of this section, you will jump over a ramp and land in front of a cave. Turn right and you will see a way. Use the Pond Strider and head that way, it will lead to a small area with a Gourdy.
- Gourdy #11: Chapter 9: Realm of Silent Dead: After you return to the Underworld, you will reach a Flying Bird Flip section. Once on top, turn right and after the fence you will see a path which leads to a Gourdy, after a few jumps.
- Gourdy #12: Chapter 11: Infiltration: At the start, you will encounter your first enemies and after that use the Flying Bird Flip. Once on top, you will fight some more enemies. Instead of jumping on the rail on the right, continue to the very end and past the large boxes, there will be a path leading to a Gourdy.
- Gourdy #13: Chapter 12: Dragon's Maw: After your first encounter with a D.D.O. Heavy Infantry, you will use the Flying Bird Flip, and then swing. You will then get up through two sets of stairs and have E-35 on the floor. Some enemies will then spawn. After dealing with them, you will see a chest on the left side of another stairs. Behind the chest is a box and behind it is a Gourdy.
- Gourdy #14: Chapter 12: Dragon's Maw: After a short flying section and rail riding, you will be in a large room with two D-0037 Vanguards (stationary rocket launchers). After clearing everything and going through the door, don't jump on the rail, instead turn left and at the end, you will find a Gourdy.
- Gourdy #15: Chapter 19: Ebon Wings: After wallruning on three walls, you will use Flying Bird Flip, then enter a room with a bridge and use a Flying Bird Flip again. Once on top, proceed to the door and in this room there will be some white boxes ahead and on the right. The final gourdy is behind those boxes.
