Gurthka is a fiend who appears in Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound. He was leading an army of demons who attacked the Hayabusa Village. He is one of the four guardians that serve the Demon Lord Jagäzk, and is the boss of the stages Seized by Dark Forces and After the Demons!. He returns as the first boss of Endless Struggle; in the boss rush, the arena's layout and his behavior are the same as in After the Demons!.

History

Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound

Gurthka and his demons attack the Hayabusa Village. As Ryu had to leave for America, Kenji Mozu takes on the demons. After slaying countless demons, Kenji faces Gurthka, who is impressed by its skills. However as they fight too long, Gurthka leaves, telling Kenji that they will finish the fight some other time.

Kenji finds Gurthka in Mount Fuji, who notes that "duty" is one of his favorite human weaknesses, and will grant him a honorouble death. However, Kenji manages to defeat Gurthka. He asks him where the Demon Lord is, however Gurthka laughs, saying that somehow he defeated him, however he is the least powerful of the Four Guardians that serve the Demon Lord. As a last resort, Gurthka then explodes seriously injuring Kenji.

Abilities and Powers

• Heavy Landing: Gurthka flies up and then quickly lands, slamming the ground and creating four fireballs - two going left and two going right. You can use Guillotine Boost Attack on the fireballs to avoid them easily. During the second encounter, the slam can create fire pillars instead of fireballs.
• Howl: Gurthka howls and creates a Cursed Fire, which then targets Kenji. Killing it, will give Kenji a Hypercharge. Hitting Gurthka with the Hypercharge Attack will stagger him for a moment for some free damage.
• Burning Sweep: Gurthka hurls forward trying to bite, as it reaches the end, he turn and throws two fireballs. You can Guillotine Boost as he hurls to avoid damage and you can also use Guillotine Boost on the fireballs he creates. During the second encounter, he throws three fireballs at the end.
• Fire Breath: Gurthka charges up and breathes fire. Once he starts charging up, quickly head to and climb up he top corner to avoid being hit as the attack covers half the screen.
