From time to time -- particularly in times of war -- heartless scoundrels have perpetrated such despicable acts of desecration.
Jizo statues, placed along roadsides in Japan from times of old, are mysterious totems of indigenous beliefs and prayers for safe journeys. Many believe them to be enchanted.

On the staircase to the graveyard where Kureha's tomb is found.

Placed on the beheaded statue before the third Statue of the Earth Dragon to make a chest holding a Grains of Spiritual Life appear in the nearby shrine.
