According to Fumihiko Yasuda, producer on Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection, the Ninja Gaiden Black version was considered to be added into the Master Collection but due to having lost too much data from the original game to be salvage and converted into other versions, the decision to add the Black version was dropped. Furthermore, Yasuda also explained that the Sigma entries also were more polished and had features and costumes the previous game lacked.[2]
