Ren Hayabusa (レン・ハヤブサ / 隼 漣, Hayabusa Ren^?) was a ninja from the Hayabusa Ninja Clan. He was also an ancestor of Jô Hayabusa and Ryu Hayabusa, who lived in the late 900s. He appears as a secret boss in the Darkness in the Capital DLC from Team Ninja's Nioh 2.

History

Ren Hayabusa was a Dragon Ninja of the late 9th Century and Master Ninja of the Hayabusa Ninja Clan. After catching wind of "... the demon who cuts down their own kind", Ren sends a challenge via a throwing knife, and meets the half-yokai Hide in a cave with a buddhist shrine. Despite his mastery of Hayabusa-style ninjutsu, Ren was surprisingly bested. Satisfied, Ren refers to Hide as his sparring partner, and the two part on friendly terms.

General

• Agility: Incredibly fast, Ren is able to move at blinding speeds;

• Strength: Extremely strong, Ren's strength is unusually strong.

• Acrobatics: Ren is able to move between platforms and scale walls with ease.

• Hand to Hand: Master level in Hayabusa style ninjutsu for hand to hand combat; combined with claws for brutal effeciency.

• Swordsmanship: Master level in the katana discipline aspect of the Hayabusa style ninjutsu.

• Throws: Legendary Izuna Drop

Weapons & Equipment

• Katana: Ren wields his clan's katana (Dragon Sword).

• Claws: Unlike Jin, Ren uses the Falcon Claws instead of a kusarigama.

• Throwing Weapons: He uses regular shuriken

Ninpo

• Art of the Inferno: Allows Ren to control fire at will, first enveloping him in flames and then shooting a fireball in front of him.

• Art of the Wind Blades: Allows Ren to convert his Ki into a tornado, then send out a shockwave of slashing wind blades.

• Art of the Piercing Void: Allows Ren to create and throw a black hole at his enemies.

Etymology

• The name Ren means "ripple" (漣).
• Ren's surname Hayabusa means "falcon" (隼).

• Ren's appearance is an easter egg from Tecmo's franchise Dead or Alive, as well as Ninja Gaiden.
  • His outfit is an armored version of Ryu's Legendary Black Falcon outfit.
