Tengu are bird-like daemons in Ninja Gaiden 4. There are two types of Tengu depending on the weapon they carry: Staff and Fan.
Description[]
A species of daemon indigenous to Japan, named after the "tengu" of Japanese myth due to their bird-like appearances and ability to fly.
One of the more intelligent species of daemons, they live in packs comprised of a chieftain and several of its fiercely loyal subordinates. Each pack member has dedicated role dictated by the chieftain.
Their ability to wield a variety of weapons make them formidable opponents, and they are known to fly great distances to capture prey and bring them back to their nests. Humans are among their targeted prey, and since ancient times, human victims captured by the tengu are referred to as having been "spirited away" as a euphemism for the victim's gruesome fate.
