The Terrorist (傭兵, Mercenary) is an Enemy in Ninja Gaiden 3 and Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge.

Overview

Armed with a knife and machine gun, these Soldiers are the most basic foes Hayabusa comes across throughout his adventures in either their standard variant or their stronger White counterpart.

Techniques

• Three-hit Combo: swings his knife three times.
• Charge Attack: rears back, then lunges and strikes upward with his knife. Guard Breaks.
• Melee Attack: jumps and strikes with his knee.
• Two-hit Combo: kicks twice.
• Lunging Stab: performs a long-range jab.
• Throw Attacks: executes a short-range grab.
• Projectile Attack: fires a stream of bullets from his machine gun. Guard Locks.
• Kamikaze Throw: once dismembered, dives at Hayabusa to grab him and explodes. (Razor's Edge only)

Red Techniques can be countered with Steel on Bone in Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge.

Strategy

Ninja Gaiden 3

• Close in on him, avoiding his projectile attacks, and perform an Izuna Drop (While sliding — Quick, Strong, Quick, Quick, Quick, Strong Attack) to Instant Kill him and disperse other nearby enemies with its splash damage. Then finish him off as he's crawling around on the ground with an Obliteration Technique (Close to a Near-Death Enemy — Strong Attack) to gain a substantial amount of Ki.
• Jump towards him with Wind Run (Quick Attack + Jump) and on his head via Wind Path (While jumping over an enemy — Jump) to attack him from above with a Flying Swallow (While jumping forward — Strong Attack) for an Instant Kill. Then conclude with an Obliteration Technique: during later levels and on higher difficulties, these enemies start to block the Flying Swallow sporadically, as such it's best to decrease their health before attempting this strategy.
• When bloody or if hit by a Shuriken, it's possible to slide into him to launch him and — if not interrupted — to trigger Steel on Bone (Quick Attack), which can then be chained with another Quick Attack on nearby enemies, shieldless Alchemists included.

Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge

• Wait for them to perform any of their Powerful Attacks to slide away or into them and punish with Steel on Bone (Strong Attack) and chain it on nearby enemies with Strong Attack.
• Quickly dismember one with a three-hit combo string, then bait his Kamikaze Throw to counter with a Steel on Bone Combo Kill.
• Bait a Powerful Attack with the Meditation Ninja Skill to initiate the Steel on Bone Combo Kill.
