Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z

Unlike most Ninja Gaiden games, the primary character is a ninja named Yaiba Kamikaze, who was killed in a battle against Ryu Hayabusa. After being found by a mysterious organization called Forge Industries, Yaiba is brought back to life as a cyborg in order to hunt down Hayabusa throughout a Zombie infested Ukraine, with support from Miss Monday, a scientist from the organization and Alarico del Gonzo, CEO of Forge Industries. Yaiba goes into his mission seeking revenge against Ryu for their previous encounter.

Gameplay

The gameplay in Yaiba employs the Unreal Engine 3 in a manner similar to other console action games, running at 30 FPS. The main enemies in the game are zombies that Yaiba has to fight in order to move on. His main weapons are his broken katana, Heartless and his cybernetic arm, though he can also use pieces of the various zombies types and enemies as weapons.

The "Ultimate Technique" ability seen in other Ninja Gaiden games has been replaced by a mode called "Bloodlust" which, when activated, allows Yaiba to decimate multiple enemies around him in quick succession.

The game also contains a retro style Arcade Mode, titled Ninja Gaiden Z. In this mode the cutscenes are parodies of bad translations in old games and the player progresses trough a more structured series of levels.
